Wellbeing has become a central focus in modern life. As a People Manager at BigHand, I’ve seen how prioritising employee wellbeing drives business success. Over the past 18 months, we’ve worked to redefine what wellbeing means to BigHanders and how we compare to industry standards.
We quickly realised that relying on annual employee surveys wasn’t enough. To make timely improvements, we shifted to real-time data collection using Workleap Officevibe, a pulse survey platform, to gather actionable insights. We also implemented a DEI-specific survey platform, Diversio, to ensure inclusion, which is vital to overall wellbeing.
After rolling out these platforms, we received our first set of results:
Officevibe Happiness and Wellness: 7.3/10 (Industry: 7.6/10)
Diversio: 79.4/100 (Industry: 75.1)
While we’re proud of our diversity score, we know there’s more to do to enhance overall wellbeing.
Using these insights, we’ve made several improvements:
Enhanced physical and mental wellbeing: Partnering with Reward Gateway, we introduced a wellbeing centre focusing on physical activity, healthy eating, financial wellness, and mental health. We also launched "Better You," a personalized wellbeing resource.
Developed social wellbeing: We created four Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)—Women at BigHand, LGBTQ+, Mental Health, and Caregiver Corner—and introduced a 24/7 wellbeing support platform, Plumm, for employees and their families.
Strengthened emotional wellbeing: We expanded recognition initiatives, including "Thank You Thursday," which has generated nearly 7,000 appreciation messages among peers.
Wellbeing at BigHand means ensuring employees feel comfortable, healthy, and happy. While our initial Officevibe and Diversio results show a strong start, we recognise the need for continuous improvement. By addressing concerns and making strategic changes, we aim to support BigHanders’ evolving needs for long-term impact.
Our wellbeing journey continues...
